Lower blepharoplasty (lower eyelid surgery)
Beverly Hills Lower Lid Blepharoplasty Los Angeles Eyelid Surgery Procedure
The other half of the eyes are the lower eyelids. Instead of extra skin, which also occurs, the more common problem are those annoying bags and dark circles. Bags under the eyes are essentially pockets of fat that bulge out of the eye socket. These can happen for several reasons. The first is genetics, it is just something that happens because your parents had it also. Another reason why the fat bulges is because the muscle that surrounds the eye (making you able to close your eyes) weakens a little and lets the fat bulge out. The final reason is that the cheeks have lost volume and have fallen down a bit with age. When you were younger, the cheek was probably more full and sat higher on your face. If you take a look at young faces, you can see that the lower eyelid and cheek are one unit. This means that it is difficult to tell where the lower eyelid stops and where the cheek begins. In the eye that has bags, there is a so-called double curve or double break. If you look at a profile picture, you can see the curve caused by the bulge that stops at the lower part of the eye socket, then the cheek begins at that point and starts another curve. We want to make those 2 curves into one by doing a two-step procedure done at once.
No need to worry about incisions! This procedure is best done with twilight anesthesia or general anesthesia. You will be asleep for this part to make sure you are comfortable during the procedure. An incision is made inside the eye (the red/skin looking part if you pull your eyelid down) and through this incision, the three fat pockets causing the bulge are removed. There is no skin incision, so there is no visible scar to worry about. The procedure does not stop here. At the same time, a small amount of fat is removed from the belly area and processed. This fat is then injected along the eyelid-cheek junction to fill this area out. If just the fat is removed, people can be left with a hollowed-out look that is only a small improvement from removing the bags. By adding fat, you can contour this area for a really nice result.
The results show that the eyes look more refreshed the bags are removed, and a small cheek lift is performed with the combination lower eyelid surgery with fat injections. Clients really like the natural looking results and you will too.
