What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
This is a very common question since Dysport was FDA approved for treatment of the glabella in April of 2009. The short answer is that there really is no difference between the two drugs. They are both made up of botulinum toxin A and both last for about 3-4 months. Usually, Dysport can be a little less expensive than Botox.
Glabella treatments - treating those lines between the eyebrows, the “11s”
By far, the most common place to get Botox or Dysport injections is the glabella. This is the area the medication was originally intended for and how it received FDA approval. Botox or Dysport is injected into this area and within 3-7 days, you will notice that you won’t be able to frown anymore. This treatment is effective for about 3-4 months, but with regular injections, some clients can go as long as 6 months between injections. If you have noticed that these lines are already forming, getting injections here can help relax those lines and prevent further deepening of them. Please see before and after pictures for examples of the results.
Crow’s feet treatment
A smile can go a long way. It is amazing how much better service you can get with a smile. Unfortunately, with repeated smiling, people can develop wrinkles around the eyes. Luckily, there are products to get rid of those smile lines and prevent further deepening of those wrinkles. Dysport or Botox can be injected into the areas around the eyes and within 3-7 days, those wrinkles don’t happen when you smile. Results typically last 3-4 months. An added benefit is that eyes can look more open as the muscle that closes your eye gets injected. Please see examples of this in our before and after photos.
Forehead lines
Horizontal lines from lifting the eyebrows on a regular basis can form. The injection of a muscle relaxer like Botox or Dysport can help prevent those lines from forming. If you like, the outer parts of the forehead can be left untouched so that you maintain some facial expression for that natural look.
Botox browlift
Would you like a little more arch in your outer brow? A small amount of Botox or Dysport underneath the eyebrow can help lift it a little bit to give a nice arch that you see in the magazines. The results are subtle, and clients love the look of a little lift in the eyebrows. This is usually coupled with crow’s feet treatment to open the eye more and get those big beautiful eyes look.

A popular procedure used to treat wrinkles is Botox. It is a medicine prescribed for use in cosmetic surgery that is injected into muscles to improve moderate and severe frown lines between brows in people of 18-65 years. Botox is directly injected into the muscles between the brows where it blocks the nerve impulses to the muscles injected by reducing muscle activity. During the initial consultation with the surgeon, the patient may discuss about what is Botox, how does it work, the results of the procedure and the precautions to be taken. The results of the procedure may be evident within days of the procedure being performed. The lines may take 30 days to improve with the results lasting for up to 4 months. The results may vary depending on an individual. According to American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Botox treatment may cost approximately $400.

Similarly, Dysport is an injectable treatment for wrinkles that is made from Botulinum toxin type A. Like Botox, it is also directly injected into the muscles causing the wrinkles to temporarily immobilize. Dysport targets the glabular muscles which form creases on forehead. But, as compared to Botox to Dysport diffuses 1-3 cm. This requires fewer injections and should be performed by a surgeon who's experienced and has expertise in performing such procedures. While performing the procedure, it has to be ensured that it does not spread to muscles nearby causing eyelid or eyebrow to droop. During the consultation with the surgeon, the patient may be told about what is Dysport, how it works, the precautions to be taken and the cost involved in the procedure. The results may appear within 1-7 days. As it contains less protein than Botox, it tends to break down more slowly.
