Ear Lobe Reduction Procedure
Earlobe Reduction Surgery – Beverly Hills, Los Angeles
Ear lobe reduction can be done on patients who have large ear lobes and want them smaller in size. Aging and the use of heavy earrings can cause ear lobes to enlarge to a point where patients dislike them because of the way they look. Ear lobe reduction is a relatively simple procedure that can be performed in the office using local anesthesia in about an hour.
The ear lobes are marked beforehand, and a local anesthetic is used to numb the entire ear lobe. The excess portion of the lobes is removed and the skin is sutured together. I use clear stitches to minimize visibility of the incision while you are healing. The fine line that is left over after all of the healing has taken place will be well hidden in the natural curvature of the ear. The stitches are usually removed after a week. During the week, an anti-biotic ointment is placed over the wound to keep it moist. There is usually minimal to no pain associated with the procedure and Tylenol is all that is needed for any discomfort.
When you come in for a free consultation, we will take photos of you as well as review your medical history. A physical exam will be done to assess how much of the ear lobe needs to be reduced. We can do the exam and the procedure on the same day if it is convenient for you.
Large earring holes, torn ear lobes, and creases within the earlobe cause many people dissatisfaction because of the way it looks. Most people love to wear earrings, but they may be self conscious about what their ear lobes look like. Some patients end up of having torn ear lobes by accidently having the earring pulled through.
